2000s fashion just got a whole lot chicer thanks to Nicole Richie and Lila Moss. Last night, the duo brought polished 2000s style, without a butterfly clip or metallic accent in sight, to a YSL Beauty event during New York Fashion Week.
Richie looked chic in all black. She wore a fitted black top and matching mini skirt, topped off with a party coat. Sure, Richie’s monochrome look was a far cry from the bright florals and backless dresses that defined her The Simple Life days. But there’s really nothing more 2000s than throwing on a chunky coat, sleek handbag, and dancing shoes for a night out.
Lila Moss, who donned a lace dress earlier this week, revived a divisive 2000s silhouette. Like her mother Kate Moss, Lila paired black skinny jeans with a plunging white silk tank top. She completed her off-duty model look with pointed-toe pumps and tousled hair. Of course, this isn’t the first time Lila has made a compelling case for wearing skinny jeans, especially for a night out on the town.

While the event’s guests mostly opted for all-black, 2000s silhouettes were a subtle nod throughout the night. Gabriette stepped out in what may be the most 2000s look of all: peep-toe pumps paired with a low-cut, backless dress that Ashley Tisdale would have worn over a pair of jeans back in the day. Paloma Elsseser, meanwhile, paired a faux fur and leather wrap coat with another 2000s favorite: capri pants.

From Richie to Moss and company, fashion designers know exactly how to pull off party outfits. No matter the decade.
