The Euphoria season 2 finale introduced many twists and turns that left the audience with more questions than answers.
Even though the entire season hinted at Fez’s (Angus Cloud) potential death, it was actually his little brother who ended up dead after being sold to the police. Instead of letting Fez take the fall for his crimes, Ashtray (Javon Walton) locked himself in the bathroom with multiple guns and died off-screen in a shootout with the police.
After the finale, Cloud spoke about his character dealing with the loss of his younger brother, telling Variety in February 2022, “He just felt like Ash was so young that he wanted him to have another chance to live his whole life. They’re definitely brothers. They raised each other. So it’s like we could be as close as we could possibly be.”
The third season was ultimately delayed due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes and creator Sam Levinson’s busy schedule. In July 2023, tragedy struck the cast when Cloud’s family confirmed his death at the age of 25.

When will season 3 premiere?
HBO renewed Euphoria for a third season in February 2022, but has yet to provide an air date. Based on the series’ previous filming schedule, Euphoria was set to return in late 2023 or early 2024. However, the WGA and SAG strikes initially pushed back production, and HBO later confirmed that Euphoria had been delayed again.
“HBO and [creator] Sam Levinson remain committed to delivering an exceptional third season,” a spokesperson for the network told Us Weekly in March 2024. “In the meantime, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities.”

When is filming scheduled to begin?
In an interview with Variety, Eric Dane confirmed that Season 3 was scheduled to begin filming in November 2022, adding, “That’s always going to change.”
Production was ultimately delayed due to the 2023 WGA strike, Levinson’s other project, The Idol, and Zendaya’s busy schedule. “Euphoria is one of those [series] that we had started writing in tandem with post-production on Idol, but at this point we don’t have a ton of scripts,” HBO executive Francesca Orsi told TV Line in May 2023. “We can’t start filming, so the delivery of that series — ideally in 2025 — will be determined by when we can pick up with Sam, who at this point is not writing and is just finishing up post-production on Idol.”
Zendaya confirmed in November 2024 that filming is set to begin in early 2025. “[Euphoria] is scheduled for January, I believe,” she told Vanity Fair. “I haven’t read anything yet, but I’m excited to see what everyone has been working on and what the future of Euphoria looks like. I don’t really have an answer, except that right now it’s set to start filming in January.”
HBO offered a first look at filming in February 2025.

What Will Season 3 Explore?
The Season 2 finale seemingly wrapped up Rue’s ( Zendaya ) journey to sobriety. In August 2023, Levinson revealed in an interview with Elle that he sees Season 3 as a “film noir” that will explore “what it means to be a principled individual in a corrupt world” through Rue’s eyes.
Maddy ( Alexa Demie ) and Cassie’s ( Sydney Sweeney ) fight also provided an opportunity to explore their former
