Virgin River’ Season 6 Ending Explained: Showrunner Details Cliffhangers, Teases Season 7 (Exclusive)

Virgin River Season 6 gave viewers more joy — and drama — than ever before, and showrunner Patrick Sean Smith broke down all the crazy revelations, twists and cliffhangers with Us Weekly.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Virgin River Season 6.

Season 6 of the small-town drama, which dropped on Netflix on Thursday, December 19, saw several characters’ lives upended in just a few minutes. While Doc ( Tim Matheson ) hit a happy (and healthy) groove with Hope ( Annette O’Toole ), his medical practice was thrown into jeopardy; Mel ( Alexandra Breckenridge ) and Jack ( Martin Henderson ) finally tied the knot but were thrown into disarray when a local teen asked Mel to adopt her baby; Charmaine ( Laura Hammersley ) seemingly disappeared after filing a restraining order against her drug lord ex; Preacher ( Colin Lawrence ) and Kaia ( Kandyse McClure ) found themselves at a major crossroads regarding their futures; and Muriel ( Teryl Rothery ) announced she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Nothing dramatic, though, compared to the ever-evolving, chaotic love triangle between Brie (Zibby Allen), Brady (Ben Hollingsworth), and Mike (Marco Grazzini). Brie and Brady’s impulsive decision to sleep together despite their breakup in Season 5 — and the fact that they’re in relationships with other people — caused a major fallout, which was only exacerbated by two major finale bombshells: Brady confessing that he was still in love with Brie and Mike proposing to her after she confessed her infidelity.

What’s going on between Hope and her ex-husband?

Although Cameron (Mark Ghanime) and Muriel split in Season 5, the doctor returned after learning of her breast cancer diagnosis to help prepare her for the tough road ahead. Fans of the couple will have to settle for the exes’ interactions in Season 6, however, as Smith told Us their romance is likely a closed chapter.
