Some collect art, others seek out luxury cars or fine wines. Emily Ratajkowski, meanwhile, is busy collecting every fashion lover’s dream: Tom Ford-era Gucci.
After wearing Ford’s famous python print in July, Ratajkowski was spotted in New York City sporting another gem from the Ford archives: a rare little black dress from Gucci’s Spring 2000 collection. Styled by Danielle Goldberg, the dress, which is over twenty years old, was strikingly modern.
With its plunging neckline that reached down to the waist, Ratajkowski’s form-fitting midi dress transitioned into a ruched miniskirt with a dropped hemline at the back. In true Ford fashion, Ratajkowski kept accessories simple and clean. She carried a structured metallic handbag and a pair of black sandals to complete the look.

Ratajkowski’s little black dress not only walked the Ford runway for Gucci, worn by model Maggie Rizzer, but it also garnered numerous press coverage. It was featured in several luxury magazines after its release in the early 2000s and was the centerpiece of a Gucci ad campaign photographed by Mario Testino in 2000. While it’s unclear how Ratajkowski and Goldberg acquired the piece, it recently sold for $2,495 on the luxury resale site 1stDibs.
Archival looks have always been a staple for Ratajkowski when she’s out and about. But recently, she’s been obsessed with Ford’s work at Gucci, particularly pieces from the Spring 2000 season. Earlier this summer, the model donned a bright blue python minidress while promoting her Netflix series, Too Much, in New York City. From the same collection as her little black dress, this bold design has a rich history. A longer version was worn by Gwyneth Paltrow at the 1999 “Rock Style” Met Gala, while the runway version has been worn by Kate Moss and Gisele Bündchen in several magazine editorials.
Why chase trends when you can reclaim the moments that defined them?
