As stars prepare for the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, Hailey Bieber is paying tribute to Madonna, one of the ceremony’s boldest personalities. Last night, amid a frenzy of business in New York City, Bieber stepped out in an apparent tribute to the Queen of Pop, wearing a variation of Madonna’s Tom Ford-era Gucci ensemble in 1995.

Bieber’s vintage pieces confirmed his penchant for polished business attire. She’s in New York City to celebrate the launch of her beauty line, Rhode, at Sephora stores. She donned a Madonna-esque long-sleeved teal blouse, almost entirely buttoned, and silk tailored pants from Ford’s Fall 1995 collection for Gucci. For accessories, the beauty mogul opted for black open-toe pumps, cat-eye glasses, and a structured crossbody bag. Tousled auburn waves and her signature glowing complexion completed the look.

Although from the same collection, Bieber’s clothes aren’t exactly identical to those worn by Madonna. Still, it’s hard to ignore the similarities. Especially since Madonna’s 1995 VMAs outfit is widely credited with helping cement Ford’s then-metabolic success at Gucci.

This isn’t the first time Bieber has worn a historic Gucci piece by Ford: last May, she paid homage to Anna Wintour in a Spring 1998 dress, just one day before the Met Gala.

A self-confessed vintage collector, Bieber naturally packed a 1990s outfit for her business trip. Earlier in the day, she opted for a Donna Karan skirt suit—a fitting choice, considering she recently fronted DKNY’s fall campaign—from the New York brand’s spring 1996 runway. It featured a plunging, cropped bateau top and a miniskirt in the same reflective fabric. The model finished her look with a slicked-back hairdo, powder gray pumps, and a selection of Tiffany & Co. jewelry.

Despite his penchant for archival finds, Bieber’s wardrobe isn’t limited to vintage these days. Working with his longtime stylist, Dani Michelle, the model and mogul turned to his favorite brands to celebrate his latest venture. She wore layered tank tops from The Row, luxury clothing and accessories from Saint Laurent, and an influential clutch from Phoebe Philo’s eponymous line.

In Bieber’s world, everything can be classified as office fashion, from open-neck bras and leather suit jackets to the holy grail of ’90s vintage.
