Kylie Jenner’s flip-flop summer just got weirder. After opting for her classic flip-flops during a getaway to Italy last month, the star influencer decided to delve into the dark world of flip-flops with some stunning pairs.

During a photoshoot for her brand Khy, Jenner donned two extravagant sandals, including a towering 5-inch pair. The all-black pair is from Venice Beach-based brand ERL (a favorite of her boyfriend, Timothée Chalamet) and is available for pre-order for $375. While slim, skinny silhouettes have been all the rage this summer, Jenner’s version nods to the oversized silhouettes that dominated mall culture in the early 2000s. The model paired her towering shoes with a black bra and low-rise athletic pants.

In another photo from the shoot, Jenner swapped her height-enhancing ERLs for an equally controversial pair of flip-flops. She wore Maison Margiela’s Tabi flip-flops, a $400 style that revisits the brand’s cult-favorite split-toe boots and Mary Janes. Like the brand’s closed-toe styles, they feature the brand’s signature branding on the front and a padded strap. Jenner paired them with a Khy off-the-shoulder bodysuit.

While summer is always the perfect season for simple sandals, this season has seen an unusually high number of celebrities embrace the trend. In early July, Jenner donned another cult sandal: The Row’s “City” flip-flops, while vacationing in Tuscany with her daughter Stormi and close friends. The style (which retails for $890) is rather unremarkable to the naked eye. But fashionistas, including Jenner’s older sister Kendall, have been particularly fond of this status symbol this summer. Jenner paired her The Row sandals with a patterned scarf and white pants.

And with her trendy sandals, Jenner showed that there’s nothing wrong with getting into some weird footwear before summer ends.
