Margaret Qualley is adding the title of “pop star” to her already impressive resume—sort of. After unveiling a new project on Instagram last week, the Golden Globe- and Emmy-nominated actress, known for Maid, Poor Things, and The Substance, has released two songs under the moniker Lace Manhattan: the dreamy, Lana Del Rey-tinged “In The Sun She Lies” and the uptempo, hyperpop “ODDWADD.” Both tracks, produced by Qualley’s husband, 11-time Grammy winner Jack Antonoff, and co-written by Ethan Coen, will be featured on the soundtrack of the Coen’s upcoming dark comedy, Honey Don’t!, which hits theaters August 22.
The singles’ videos are a total collaboration. Starring and directed by Talia Ryder (under the direction of cheeky alter ego Dixie Normus), “ODDWADD” is a black-and-white fever dream that showcases Qualley and Ryder’s shared dance backgrounds. Clad in nighties and glittering choir shoes, the two twist, sway, and twirl in an empty rehearsal room, the stark imagery matching the track’s techno pulse. The accompanying video, “In The Sun She Lies,” slows things down, offering a sunny, melancholic counterpart to the chaos of “ODDWADD.”

The Lace Manhattan/Dixie Normus project was born on the set of Honey Don’t!, the second installment in the Coens’ lesbian B-movie trilogy, following Drive-Away Dolls. The film, which premiered at Cannes, stars Qualley as Honey O’Donahue, a small-town private investigator investigating a string of deaths linked to a strange church. Ryder plays her niece, and Aubrey Plaza, Chris Evans, and Beanie Feldstein round out the cast.
Coen, Antonoff, Ryder, and Qualley all collaborated on this artistic project, which extends the playful and luscious tone of the film’s universe. Qualley and Antonoff had previously collaborated: she choreographed, co-directed, and starred in the music video for “Tiny Moves” by his band, Bleachers. They married in August 2023, after approximately two years of dating.
