Tyla is here to save the day with a new song from the summer, a year surprisingly devoid of choices. The South African singer released “Is It” on Friday, a party-friendly, up-tempo track designed to get people dancing. It’s quintessentially Tyla, and so is the look she’s rocking to promote her new single. Since breaking out two years ago, Tyla has stuck to a particular aesthetic, sporting a wardrobe mostly made up of vintage pieces from the early 2000s. She doesn’t like to cover up too much, and her outfits are always pared-down, as if she might break into one of her Bacardi routines at any moment.

“I love showing off my waist and I love when clothes feel like they fall off,” Tyla told W last year, and her recent outfits fit that bill perfectly. When Tyla announced her new single last week, she did so with an Instagram post of her headless body covered in glitter. In the photo, the singer is wearing a sleeveless top from Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall/Winter 2021 collection, adorned with the word “cin cin” written in rhinestones. Denim mini shorts are tucked under a satin ribbon-woven belt from Dolce’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection, while a pair of metallic pink Louboutin pumps completes the look.
On Friday, following the single’s release, Tyla’s waist was once again on display in a new series of photos in which the singer called “Is It” a “pretty bitch anthem.” In the photos, she wore a ripped halter top, the hem of which fell in a jagged hem just below her chest, low-rise jeans, and an oversized leather belt with a scorpion painted on the buckle. In a second photo in the carousel, she ditched the belt and swapped the tank for a mesh top worn over a bra.

Of course, the style continues in the music video, where Tyla wears a sheer floral jumpsuit by Gianfranco Ferre Spring/Summer 2005, originally worn by Alek Wek. The piece wraps around her body with a halter neck and a fringed hem that bounces off her as she dances. Gladiator heels, chunky hoop earrings, and metallic eyeshadow complete the look and make us wonder, “Is it wrong to want to wear this exact outfit this weekend?”
