Rihanna One-Ups Carrie Bradshaw’s Baguette Bag

Apologies to Carrie Bradshaw, but Rihanna’s baguette bag is way more appealing than Fendi’s famous sequined accessory. After announcing her pregnancy at the Met Gala on Monday, Rihanna headed out to dinner at Carbone New York with the ultimate dinner bag: a crossbody satchel designed to look like a loaf of bread.

Rihanna was spotted wearing this tongue-in-cheek accessory (oddly, it’s from Fendi’s Fall 2023 collection) while heading to the Italian restaurant where she reportedly dined alone. The piece, molded into the shape of a baguette, features carbonized detailing on the top, a long zipper, and a black shoulder strap. Rihanna has been a regular at Giorgio Baldi in Los Angeles for years (and has worn many a maternity outfit at the West Coast establishment), and Carbone is famous for its complimentary bread basket, which might explain the beauty mogul’s choice for her dinner bag yesterday. We’d like to think she tossed a few loaves of bread in there, just in case a craving hits later.

Rihanna opted for a casual outfit. She wore loose-fitting jeans that were just low enough to show off her baby bump. On top, Rihanna donned a Martine Rose red and white striped polo shirt and topped it off with a New York Yankees cap and snakeskin-print shoes.

This understated dinner outfit is one of the first official glimpses of Rihanna’s maternity attire, after the singer revealed she’s expecting again in a custom Marc Jacobs gown at the 2025 Met Gala. This outfit alone already gives some clues as to how the Bad Gal will dress throughout her third pregnancy.

Sure, the singer will continue to wear her maternity essentials: loose-fitting jeans, revealing crop tops, and the occasional sheer dress or skirt for more formal occasions. But if her baguette bag is any guide, it looks like the star is looking to have even more fun with her maternity outfits than she did during her previous two pregnancies. If that’s the case, we’re in for a treat.
