For the first weekend of Coachella, Kendall and Kylie Jenner opted for bold yellow dresses. But the similarities ended there. Despite the similar colors, their sartorial choices highlighted each sister’s unique style.
For her “818 Outpost” event on Friday, Kendall embraced the on-trend butter yellow. She wore a very feminine Proenza Schouler gown (aptly dubbed the “Kendall Dress”) for the daytime affair. The model’s dress featured a fitted corset that extended to a below-the-knee skirt—a style more suited to the Hamptons or Martha’s Vineyard than the desert heat of Coachella Valley. Kylie, meanwhile, had other ideas about yellow.

Unlike Kendall’s flowy Proenza gown, Kylie opted for a much more skin-friendly look. The Khy founder kicked off the weekend at the Sprinter and Revolve Festival pool party on Friday, wearing a latex minidress with a plunging neckline. Based on food groups, Kylie’s dress leaned more toward a tangy lemon color than a pure buttery yellow. (Perhaps she was inspired by her boyfriend Timothée Chalamet, who wore a similar buttery yellow to the 2025 Oscars.) The hue perfectly matched the canned vodka Kylie was there to promote, naturally.

The only thing the Jenner sisters agree on? Black flip-flops. Kendall opted for a $750 pair from The Row, while Kylie opted for a flat-soled style.
Kendall and Kylie’s take on yellow perfectly illustrates their different approaches to fashion. While Kendall is used to bodycon pieces, her wardrobe is full of feminine pieces like this Proenza dress. (She loves a Kelly Hermès dress, which would have looked perfect with this outfit.) Kylie, on the other hand, has always been the more daring of the duo. So much so that wearing latex in the desert didn’t bother her in the least.
