For Justin Hartley, working with his wife Sofia Pernas on his hit CBS series Tracker makes the experience even better.

“I love being around her. I’m having the time of my life with this show,” Hartley, 48, told USA Today on Friday, March 21. “I love it. Being able to share it with those you love makes it even better.”

Hartley was asked about his character, Colter, reuniting with Billie (Pernas). “I don’t know if I would call it a romance, but there‘s a romantic spark and chemistry between them,” he explained. The fictional couple will face off again in an upcoming episode of Tracker.

Based on Jeffery Deaver’s novel “The Never Game,” Tracker follows a survivalist named Colter (Hartley) as he travels the country solving various mysteries. Hartley not only stars in the series but also serves as an executive producer, which has allowed him to surprise viewers with notable guest appearances such as Pernas, 35, Jensen Ackles, Melissa Roxburgh, Jennifer Morrison, and more.

“Obviously I got her, because I live with her,” Hartley joked on an October 2024 episode of Max’s “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?” “It’s not even a phone call.”

Hartley joked that he didn’t have to do much to convince Pernas to join the show, adding, “It’s like, ‘Hey, babe. Come on, let’s get to work.’ But it’s great to be able to work with people you love… It’s great to have her. She’s a shining light and we have the biggest guest stars on our show. Hartley and Pernas first worked together on The Young and the Restless in 2015. Years later, they reconnected off-screen and exchanged vows in 2021. Along with Tracker, they collaborated on the short-lived Quantum Leap reboot. She is wonderful. “If I had my way, I would spend every minute with her,” Hartley gushed to Us Weekly in July 2024. “What’s really great is meeting someone that means so much to you, that you’re so proud of, that you’re a huge fan of, and being able to see her perform, because she’s such a talented actress. She just makes scenes sublime, which actually makes my job easier. But yeah, she’s just wonderful to work with.”

The actor previously revealed that their plan had always been to involve Pernas with Tracker. “I thought that would be a really cool idea. It was my idea all along to have this character you just talked about,” Hartley explained to Deadline in May 2024. “I think it was in the second episode, there was a big reward for a car. There was a line from one of the ladies: ‘They say Billie’s on to this.’ And then Coulter rolls her eyes. If you really pay attention, you’re like, ‘Oh, he’s got a rival, this Billie.’

Tracker airs on CBS on Sundays at 8 p.m. ET. New episodes are available the next day on Paramount+.
